Terms of use

1. Who operates the service

The FEM calculator and the cross-section calculator at femonline.eu (the “applications”) are operated by femonline.eu (the “operator”). You can reach the operator through the contact form in the calculator (✉ Contacts → Contact form) or by e-mail at [email protected].

By using the applications you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the applications.

2. Price

During the beta the applications are free of charge, with no registration. Any future charge will be announced on this website in advance, and nothing will be charged without your explicit agreement.

3. What you may do

You may use the applications for private and for professional, commercial engineering work, and you may use the models, calculations and reports you produce with them without restriction. Your models and results belong to you.

4. What you may not do

You may not copy, redistribute, resell, rent or embed the applications or their code, nor offer them as a service of your own; decompile or reverse engineer them, except where the law expressly allows it; access them in an automated way that overloads the service, or circumvent their technical limits; or use them for any unlawful purpose.

5. Intellectual property

The applications, their source code, design, documentation and section database are the property of the operator; all rights reserved. They contain open-source components that remain under their own licences; the licence texts are listed in the FEM calculator under ✉ Contacts → Licences and in the cross-section calculator under the Licences button.

The applications implement methods of the Eurocodes and other standards and refer to them by clause, but they neither contain nor replace the standards themselves. The standards are available from your national standards body.

6. Engineering responsibility

The applications are an aid for structural analysis and design. Their results do not replace the judgement of a qualified structural engineer and must be checked independently before they are used for any real structure.

You are responsible for the input (geometry, cross-sections, materials, loads, supports), for the suitability of the modelling assumptions, and for the compliance of the final design with the applicable standards, national annexes and regulations. Values pre-filled from national annexes are informative and must be checked against the annex in force.

7. No warranty

The applications are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. They are under active development and may contain errors. The operator may change, interrupt or discontinue them at any time.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator accepts no liability for any damage arising from the use of the applications or from the inability to use them. This does not limit any liability that cannot be excluded by law, in particular for intent or gross negligence, or the mandatory rights of consumers.

9. Privacy

How the applications handle data is described in the privacy policy.

10. Changes to these terms

The operator may update these terms. The current version is always published on this page with the date of its last update; continued use of the applications after a change means acceptance of the updated terms.
